Synopsis: Life at Snake Gully has been updated with the arrival of
television and a ladies hairdresser. Mum has acquired some modern
appliances and Dad battles with the generation gap. And Mabel's father,
Bill Smith, frequently has a shotgun in his hands when he finds Dave and
Mabel together in romantic circumstances.
Notes: Pilot episode. Michelle Fawdon was replaced by Diane Craig as
Mabel in the series.

Synopsis: There is trouble in the Snake Gully Fire Brigade - who is the
real captain? Dad and Bill Smith vie for this position of authority, and
it looks as if the town will burn down before the problem is resolved.

2. Lend Me Your Body For Seven Days
Synopsis: Dad is growing a marrow bigger than that of neighbour Bill
Smith for the Agricultural show, and Dave is outraged to discover that
Mabel has been chatted up by Charlie Pratt during a dance. By default Dad
and Dave triumph. Charlie Pratt was fired as a human cannonball at the
show, with disastrous results, as Dave's muscular rival breaks Bill
Smith's marrow.

3. Husbandry Is Not Just A Golden Ring

Synopsis: When Bill Smith's prize bull Mervin wanders into Dad's heifer
paddock, Dad impounds the animal. Smith decides to seek legal advice, but
there is only one solicitor in town, and Dave and Mabel's romance
flourishes against a background of squabbles between their families. When
Dave goes down to the barn to meet Mabel, Bill Smith thinks it is someone
after Mervin and takes a shot at him.

Synopsis: Dave and Mabel have a drink with Aub, who has just come home
from Agricultural College, and his girlfriend Freda. They are very
impressed with his announcement that science is coming to the man on the
land, and Aub tells them about Major Mauling, who runs a chicken store and
is looking for chicken breeders. Dave ends up with seven chickens in his
wardrobe.

Synopsis: Dad addresses a council meeting with a plan to raise a 10-foot
high bronze statue in memory of the pioneers of Snake Gully, but he
settles for a plaque on a park bench. Meanwhile, Dave and Mabel are on
the park bench planning their elopement - however, they find that their
plans go astray.

Synopsis: An encyclopaedia salesman sells Mabel a book. Dave arrives at
Mabel's in his new biker outfit, but she is not impressed and suggests he
become more intellectual. The reaction Dave receives at home is quite
different, so much so that Mum suggests that Dad get 'with it' too.
